The last elephant

This one is a lot more morbid than most of my other work. Here there is an elephant couple in savanna observing a nuclear bomb go off at a distance. By the time the mushroom cloud rises and spreads, only the elephant on the left remains, now forced to live out the rest of his days in solitude. To me this subject is a reminder how fragile life is, and that even in the most egocentric scenario, it is not enough to focus on one's own well-being.

Materials: Watercolor on Paper

Dimensions: 12.7 x 18.5  cm

About the Artist

Olga is a painter who draws inspiration from the fantastical worlds living inside her head: whether it is a parallel universe where the sapient life descended from dinosaurs rather than apes, or a land inhabited by mischievous lemurs, each artwork's characters come with their own story to tell.

Olga lives and works in her home in Paris, France that she shares with two furry assistants, of feline and canine variety.
